Special economic zones will appear in three Russian regions

Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin has decided to create new special economic zones (SEZs) in the Orenburg, Smolensk and Ivanovo regions, the cabinet's website has reported. According to the press service, this will become an additional incentive for the development of the regions.

There are plans to locate at least eight companies in the Orenburg SEZ, including manufacturers of plastic pipes, drilling equipment and lithium-titanium batteries for warehouse equipment. At the same time, a line for deep processing of meat will be launched here and a transport and logistics terminal will be opened.

"To create comfortable conditions for business, 1.67 billion rubles will be invested from the regional budget into the SEZ infrastructure. The volume of private investments into new production by 2030 will amount to about 8.9 billion rubles, and the number of jobs created will exceed 900", - the report says.

Six investment projects will be implemented in Smolensk region on the territory of the new special economic zone "Stabna". They will erect a knitting mill, an assembly plant for off-road trucks and a peat processing plant. The amount of private investment in the projects will total approximately 10.5 billion roubles. This will create more than 600 new jobs for the region.

Five residents are planning to start operating in the special economic zone "Ivanovo". This includes a manufacturer of knitted fabric, cotton yarn and fabrics for workwear. About 3.2 thousand people will be able to find jobs at the new enterprises. The project will involve 8 billion rubles of private investment.
