Sochi plans to resume ferry communication with Turkey. This was reported by Mayor of the city Alexey Kopaygorodsky in his telegram channel after negotiations with the head of the regional branch of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs Sergey Nesterov.

According to Kopaygorodsky, the main topic of the talks was the resumption of ferry freight traffic between Sochi and the Turkish Trabzon.

"Technically Sochi is ready. In case of positive decision of all structures and departments for implementation of the project, the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Sochi resort city will cooperate with Turkish colleagues. We are also discussing cruise routes to Turkey. It will not only diversify leisure of the residents and visitors of the resort, but also create new jobs in the city", - he wrote.

The Mayor underlined that the resumption of ferry communication is beneficial for Sochi, because it will allow to reduce the price for horticultural products, which are brought to the resort by large goods vehicles from Novorossiysk and Tuapse, and will also unload federal highways.

It should be recalled that the ferry service with Turkey was suspended in 2013 due to safety requirements in preparation for the 2014 Olympics.
