A shop has been built at the Yuzhno-Kurilsky combine on Kunashir island, which will produce fish meal and fish oil. This was reported by the head of the region Valery Limarenko.

"In order to preserve the nature, it is necessary to use its resources rationally. The new production facility set up in the Kuril Islands is an example of this approach. With the launch of the plant, waste products of the fish processing industry, which previously had to be disposed of, will be put to use" - the press service of the regional government quotes him as saying.

It is also noted that the construction of a new shop will allow to create 46 new jobs in the region inhabited by 12 thousand people.

Equipment from Thailand has been installed at the production facility, which was installed by Russian specialists, due to the pandemic and the closure of the borders.

The establishment of the workshop was supported by the Sakhalin Oblast Development Corporation.
