Yandex together with VTB Bank, LANIT Group and Gigabyte, a computer equipment manufacturer, have started construction of a plant in Ryazan Region where they will produce server equipment. This was announced by Yandex's press service.
The new factory will be located in the territory of the industrial park "Ryazansky".
"The plant will produce equipment under the Openyard brand: servers, storage systems, gateways and components of smart devices. The area of the site where the complex will appear is eight hectares", - is said in the report.
As it was specified in the company, the first stage will include production lines, laboratories and test zones. All operations will be carried out here - from the surface installation of components to the testing of finished products.
At the initial stage more than one billion rubles will be invested into production. Pre-commissioning work, which will be managed by specialists from Gigabyte, is planned to start in the third quarter of next year. By the end of 2022 the plant will produce its first server.
The design of the servers will be based on the developments and technologies of Yandex, which already has eight years of experience in creating server projects for its own data centres.
This summer, Yandex, LANIT, Gigabyte and VTB announced the creation of a joint venture. The parties agreed that Yandex and Gigabyte will provide patents, technologies and in-house developments for the project, while Yandex and LANIT will provide investments. LANIT will also provide distribution and service support. VTB will be a financial investor.
