The government has backed a bill on the responsibility of industrial enterprises for the liquidation of accumulated environmental damage. The law will come into force in Russia on September 1, 2022, TASS reported citing the press service of Deputy Prime Minister Viktoria Abramchenko.

According to Vice Prime Minister, the law will be key in the field of environmental protection and will enshrine the principle of "litter - remove" for the business community.

She explained that the regulation will apply to industrial sites and shops of major chemical and oil refineries, enterprises where toxic substances are used, as well as disposal facilities for the most hazardous waste.
