Russian delivery service Samokat filed a lawsuit against Apple in the United States

Smart Space, which is a developer of domestic express delivery service Samokat, filed a lawsuit against Apple in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. This was reported by RBC with reference to the court materials.

According to the newspaper, Apple has warned Smart Space to remove the "Samokat" app from the AppStore. This may be done at the request of Samocat Sharing System, which rents out scooters and claims that the express delivery service infringes the name SAMOCAT.

Apple has therefore asked Smart Space to prove that the company is not infringing the complainant's rights or that the parties are taking steps to resolve the issue promptly.

Smart Space provided an explanation from the Russian law specifying why the service uses the trademark lawfully, and assured that the parties are negotiating to resolve the dispute. However, the company has not yet received a response from Apple.

The company estimates the possible damage that Smart Space may suffer in case the application is removed at $75,000.
