Apple Inc. sues Russian customs

Apple Inc. filed two claims simultaneously to the Federal Customs Service (FCS) of the Russian Federartion and another defendant with an unspecified "other person" which implicates the Sheremetyevo customs, writes vc.ru.

According to E-justice online card-catalogue, three lawsuits were filed on behalf of Apple Rus on February 18. In two of them, which were filed in the Moscow Arbitration Court, the FCS of Russia is listed as a defendant.

The third document ( "the statement on the recognition of decisions and actions (inactions) as illegal"), filed with the Arbitration Court of Moscow region, the defendant is not specified, in this case as the "other person" is the Sheremetyevo customs office.

The court will not disclose the content of the statements before they are published, said the publication. A representative from the Moscow court told vc.ru that for now, the case is till undergoing preliminary consideration, which, according to Russian law can take up to 5 days. Apple refrained from answering the request of the publication as to the reasons behind the suits.

In late 2015 the FCS officially equated the Smart watches (including, for example, Apple Watch) to the wrist and has introduced additional taxes on their imports to Russia in the amount of 10% of the cost of imported goods.
