The Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation did not find grounds to reconsider the export tax on wheat, the head of the Ministry, Alexander Tkachev told reporters during an exhibition in Moscow.

"We believe that there is so far no basis for reconsidering it (the tax on wheat, ex.)," he noted, in answer to a journalist's question.

Tkachev expressed his confidence that the tax plays a necessary role, in light of the unstable financial market.

"Considering the falling ruble and the rate of the dollar... If we lower the price on grain, it will lead to prices on bread and animal feed rising. This will hit both people and livestock," noted Tkachev, adding that the price of grain is perfectly just.

"As long as the market remains the same, even more so since the price of grain today is just, even with this formula. I believe that is should remain as it stands," resumed the Minister.

Earlier, a governmental meeting was held with the participation of Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich, the representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, market participants and experts, during which were discussed the issues of export taxes on wheat. However, the decision was declined.
