Roskachestvo warned Russians about toxic blankets

Excessive levels of toxicity have been detected in down blankets of three brands sold in Russia, Roskachevo reported.

It is known that within the study 18 brands produced in Russia, Sweden and Austria were studied. According to the results of tests, with the index of toxicity within the range from 70% to 120% inclusive, blankets AlViTek - 166%, IKEA - 151% and Askona - 135% turned out to be higher than the norm.

As the head of Roskachestvo Elena Sarattseva explained, it can provoke skin diseases.

"If a person spends all night under such a blanket, sweating in their sleep, the toxic substances can pass through the moisture to the skin. Hence dermatitis, irritation and other skin reactions. Of course, it is impossible to say whether your already purchased blanket is toxic or not, so try not to use blankets without a cover and always wear a duvet cover," she stressed.

Also the results of the study showed that in the blankets of seven brands instead of the promised goose down or feather padding was combined with cheap duck down. Two manufacturers completely replaced the claimed goose down in the composition with duck down.

The vast majority of manufacturers who claim 100% goose down on the label also used feathers in the filling. And in those blankets, which stated the use of both feather and down, in fact there was much more feather than it was stated in the labeling, stated in Roskachevt.

As a reminder, goose down is considered better than duck down, it is more durable (the lifetime of goose down is 20 years, duck down 5 years) and warmer.
