In Russia, internal tourism is a new type of non-oil export. Rosturizm is currently busy studying the issue of facilitating the procedure of issuing Russian visas to foreign tourists. The agency reports on the preparation of proposals for the introduction of single electronic visas to foreign nationals while visiting the Russian Federation for the period up to 15 days.

The ministry stressed that first of all, this visa will be issued to tourists from the Schengen area, the UK, the US, Japan, or from "friendly" countries or governments, which are included in international organizations (BRICS, SCO, EAEC).

Officials believe that the introduction of electronic visas do not contradict the security requirements, as in the process of their registration in all the necessary security checks are carried out on foreign nationals.

The World Tourism Organization provides data indicating that the simplification of visa issuing procedures gives an increase of tourist flow direction by 20-30%.
