S7 owners founding an airline in Cyprus

39

Owners of S7 Group (which include Siberia and Globus) are currently busy creating a new airline in Cyprus. We are already privy to its name, which is Charlie Airlines, as well as the fact that the fleet will be led by two Airbus A321 planes from Siberia's runway, reported RIA News.

Co-owner of S7 Group, Vladislav Filyov indicated that Russian shareholders will control 40% of the Charlie Airline shares, while the rest will belong to private Cypriot shareholders, reported the Kommersant.

"In England, Cypriots are referred to as Charlie, - he commented on the company name. - in reality, we will operate in the summer, as opposed to a regular basis..."

Charlie Airlines is expected to be released in the end of 2016. Filyov referred to the costs of the project as "quite affordable", while in his opinion, "it is not so much a business, as a school", since it will provide the owners with the opportunity to work with European certification and acquire more experience in managing and flight safety.
