AvtoVAZ announced the launch of a LADA expedition to the Arctic. It is dedicated to the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the company, said the company's press service. With the support of LADA projects like ''Wilders'', a 6500 km journey to be taken by the standard XRAY crossover, which supports two 4x4 SUVs, modified to overcome serious off-roads at low temperatures.

The expedition will be taken on a standard LADA XRAY, the vehicle is not subjected to any additional improvement. The Company intends to prove that the LADA XRAY is structurally adapted for long journeys, and works in any temperature conditions.

Expedition vehicles supported by LADA LADA 4x4 and 4x4 5d are equipped with northern modifications that were proposed by participants of the youth forum “future intellectual leaders of Russia”, held in Yaroslavl in the autumn of 2015.

The expedition will last from 14 March to 2 April and will pass through Syktyvkar, Naryan-Mar, Kirov and Kazan. During the Arctic trip, participants are intent on reaching the village of Varandey, one of the northernmost points of Russia. There a LADA flag will be raised, symbolizing the 50th anniversary of the automobile.
