According to Impact magazine, in 2015 only one Russian brand was included in the TOP 10 best-selling vodkas in the world - "Pyat ozer". This product is produced by the Siberian Alcohol Group (ASG). It went down from sixth to eighth place in a year with sales volume of 3.8 million dkl. A year earlier, the eighth and tenth places in this ranking were occupied by "Synergy" vodka "Belenkaya" and "Green Mark" of Roust holding, the newspaper "Kommersant" wrote.

Sales of "Five Lakes" decreased by 22.5% in 2015. Sales volumes of Belenkoy - by 26.6%, up to 3.2 million dkl, Green Mark - by as much as 40.5%, up to 2.3 million dkl. This year, they took 14th and 23rd places in the list, respectively. The leaders of the rating, as before, are Smirnoff British Diageo and Absolut French Pernod Ricard with volumes of 23.4 million and 9.9 million dkl respectively. Ukrainian brand "Khortytsya" showed growth for the year, rising from fifth to third place with 6.6 million dkl. Sales of Russian Standard vodka, produced by Roust, also increased by 3.2% to 2.9m dkl. It outperformed Finlandia and Zubrowka and took 17th place in the ranking.

Representatives of Roust, ASG and Synergy admitted that Impact figures are close to reality. The manufacturer justifies the reduction of sales volume of "Five Lakes" by multiple growth of vodka sales in the segment of minimum retail price, which is 185 rubles for 0.5 liters. In Roust, the data of the rating position of "Green Mark" explains primarily the political and economic difficulties in a number of markets in the CIS countries, including Ukraine and Kazakhstan.

In 2015, according to analysts of Rosstat, the decline in vodka production in Russia was 4%, up to 63.9 million dkl. Supplies of Russian vodka and liquor and vodka products abroad in 2015 decreased by 42% to 4.35 million dL, according to the data of CIFFRA. This is the lowest figure since 2005.

At the end of 2015, alcohol supplies to Russia fell record-breakingly - by almost 30%. The strongest decline was in rum - by 35%, shipments of sparkling and quiet wines - by 33.7% and 32.6%, respectively, tequila - by 23.1%, whiskey - by 22.3%.

Bloomberg said in early 2016 that Diageo and Pernod Ricard, which own the Smirnoff and Absolut brands, intend to start conquering a youth audience in the U.S. in order to retain a fifth of the U.S. market of spirits, estimated at $ 18 billion. In particular, they began to focus on the history and origins of their brands and point the word "Kraft" on the labels.

Earlier, Duma deputies called for making the vodka brand national, depriving foreign producers of the opportunity to use it in the production of this drink.
