The Federation Council plans to establish the All-Russian Day of Folk Arts and Crafts (AOC). Such an initiative was supported by the Chairman of the upper house of parliament Valentina Matvienko.

"It seems to me that the proposal is very correct. It will be one of the symbols of unique folk crafts preservation in Russia, which are presented not only in Nizhny Novgorod Region, but practically in every region," - she said.

She asked Galina Karelova, the vice-speaker of Federation Council, to consider this question during the meeting of temporary commission on the support of folk crafts and prepare the corresponding offers.

The proposal was initiated by Nizhny Novgorod authorities with the support of Rostourism and the Federation Council.
