A metallurgical plant is planned to be launched in Primorye in 2025 to meet the needs of the Zvezda shipyard, Rosneft said.

The production capacity of the plant will be 1.5 million tons of steel products per year. The project will be implemented in two stages: the first stage will involve launching of the steel rolling manufacture, the second stage will involve launching of the tube-rolling manufacture with the capacity of up to 220 thousand tons.

The main customer is supposed to be Russia's only large-capacity shipyard Zvezda, but the Company is also ready to export - preliminary agreements have already been reached.

The estimated cost of the project is $2.2 mln. The shipyard will be constructed by Sovremennye Tekhnologii Sudostroeniya.

The shipyard was founded in 2009 as a joint venture of United Shipbuilding Corporation and Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering. In 2012 Daewoo withdrew from the joint venture and the shipyard was taken over by Rosneft and Gazprombank.
