Production of TV series in Russia increased 1.5 times in 2021, while the number of projects launched initially on network platforms doubled, says Vedomosti, citing data from the industry portal kino-teatr.ru.

Thus, according to the portal, a total of 229 serials were released, compared to 152 in 2020.

Jean Prosyanov, editor-in-chief of kino-teatr.ru, explains that the reason for the increase in the number of series may be the delayed release of projects due to the pandemic - this is about 5-7% of the total number of TV series released.

The revenue of Russian online movie theaters soared by 66% to 27.8 billion rubles, according to TMT Consulting. The increase in demand for TV series immediately affected their cost - now it has increased by 30%, to more than 25 million rubles per episode.

In 2022 the "boom" will continue - experts predict the growth of the industry for 60-80 projects.
