The index of food production in the Rostov region increased by 8% in 2021

The index of food production in the Rostov region by the end of last year was 107.6% compared to 2020, said first deputy governor Viktor Goncharov.

"According to preliminary data, the production of food products in the Rostov region in the first 11 months of last year increased by 7.6% compared to the same period in 2020. At the same time, shipped food and beverages made in the Don region for 184.2 billion rubles, which is 30.4% more than in the same period of 2020, "- he said at a meeting with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the region.

The meat processing industry in the region recorded growth in a number of areas over the period. For example, after the Damate group of companies resumed operation of enterprises producing duck and turkey meat, production in this area increased almost sevenfold, to 23.8 thousand tons. In addition, the output of meat products increased 2.8 times, up to 41.4 thousand tons. Also last year, the production of beef increased by 12.4%.

"In the dairy industry, the production of cheese increased by 13.9% to 14.3 thousand tons. <...> Production of cottage cheese increased by 13.2% to 6.5 thousand tons, mainly due to the installation of a new cottage cheese line at Miasnikovsky Molzavod JSC," follows from the message.

Besides, last year there was a growth of bakery production of long-stored bakery products on the Don. Compared with the same period of 2020, they were produced 5.6 times more - 24.8 thousand tons.

Also, the production of cereals increased by 8.5% and canned vegetables by 3.4%.
