Moscow increased industrial production by almost 30%

The volume of industrial production for eleven months of last year in Moscow increased by 29.2% compared to the same period in 2020, said Deputy Mayor of the capital Vladimir Efimov.

He noted that the growth in manufacturing industries was 30.6%. The increase was mainly due to chemical, electronic and food industries, medicine production. At the same time the growth was recorded in mechanical engineering, light industry, paper production and wood processing.

Manufacturing industry growth influenced the volume of Moscow industrial production as a whole, Efimov pointed out. He specified that for eleven months of last year it increased by 29,2% as compared with the same period of 2020.

Production of the chemical industry increased by 43.5% over the same period. This was helped by an increase in the production of paints, varnishes and other coating materials, printing inks and mastics.

Growth continued in the production of drugs and materials that are used for medical purposes. Thus, in January-November of last year, this segment grew by 32.6%.

"Food production increased by 14,1% at the expense of positive dynamics of finished animal feed production, meat semi-finished products, as well as processing and preserving of fruits and vegetables", - said the head of the capital department of investment and industrial policy Alexander Prokhorov.

He added that the volume of wood processing and woodwork production had increased by 71% during the first eleven months of the last year. The head of the department connected it with the increased demand for repair materials.
