The Republic of Dagestan in 2021 increased fish production by more than 40% compared to 2020. More than 38 thousand tons of fish were caught during the year, the North Caucasus Territorial Administration of Rosrybolovstvo reported.

According to TASS, the bulk of the total volume is sprat - more than 30 thousand tons. The difference in the development of this species of fish compared with last year is 15 thousand tons, Rosrybolovstvo said.

Recall that under current rules in the Volga-Caspian basin, sprat fishing by shallow trawl is allowed from July to late March. From April to June, sprat goes to spawn, so there is a catching ban.

Mass catching starts when the weather cools in October or November.
