Moscow is a member of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) since 2022 and begins to develop and unique standards for the city, said the chairman of Moscow Tourism Committee Ekaterina Pronicheva.

"This year we are conducting an audit of Moscow in terms of compliance with international standards of GSTC in terms of compliance of our industry participants - from hotels, cafes, restaurants to the objects of demonstration - to these criteria and as a result we have our own standards. We are planning to work separately with the industry within these standards", - she said at the session "Sustainable development: challenges, threats and opportunities for the tourism industry" within the framework of the Gaidar Forum.

According to her, it is necessary to stimulate demand by telling people that they can take advantage of services that meet their standards and ideas about preservation of the environment.

"The creation of such standards on the basis of Moscow is what we will do and we invite our colleagues to participate in this," she added.
