German dairy company to produce cheese in Russia
The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) has given permission to German DMK Deutsches Milchkontor to purchase Russian cheese makers, the Vedomosti newspaper reported. Germany's largest dairy company took control of Bobrovsky cheese factory, Richard Group and several other legal entities associated with them.
The source of the newspaper, the owner of a large milk producer, claims that the parties began negotiations long ago. Other interlocutors of the newspaper emphasize that the German company showed interest in Russian production even before the embargo. At that time, Richard Group was one of the largest importers of cheese in the country, including produced by DMK.
Bobrovsky cheese factory delivers cheese in the middle price segment to almost all major Russian retail chains: "Dixy", "Lenta", X5 Retail Group markets.
DMK Deutsches Milchkontor's revenue for 2014, as reported, amounted to 5.3 billion euros. The company produces dairy products and cheese, baby food ingredients and other products. DMK processes 6.8 million tonnes of milk every year.
