VIVAX sponsored the Guinness Book of World Records

VIVAX Company was the sponsor of the Bering-2013 project, which later entered the Guinness Book of World Records.

On August 5, 2013, an international team of swimmers from 16 countries took part in the Intercontinental Open Ocean Relay Swim across the Bering Strait from Chukotka (Russia) to Alaska (USA). Oleg Dokuchaev, the head of the Kasatka Cold Swimming Association, led the race of 66 athletes.

The voyage across the Bering Strait lasted six days under extreme conditions: in an icy subpolar stormy ocean with powerful currents, inhabited by walruses and killer whales. The sportsmen had no special outfit.

Instead of planned 40 hours and 90 kilometers of laid route the race lasted 144 hours, and the sportsmen covered 134 kilometers.

At the same time, Evgeniy Novozheev's VIVAX kite team conducted hydrological reconnaissance of the swim route, while a camera crew from VIVAX SPORT Studio documented the future world record. The footage was edited into a documentary that was named after the project. Andrei Sorokin, the founder of VIVAX, was the producer of the film, Vladislav Bykov was the director, and Viktor Muzhetsky was the cameraman.

"We readily support significant sporting events and root for every athlete - both professional and amateur," said VIVAX CEO Andrei Sorokin.

The World Open Water Swimming Association recognized the Bering 2013 swim as the largest and the most risky project.

The project broke the world record, and almost 7 years later "Bering 2013" entered the Guinness Book of World Records.

Film Festival

In 2019, the VIVAX SPORT STUDIO team presented the documentary film "Bering-2013" at the Pacific Meridian International Film Festival, which has been held in Vladivostok since 2003. Last year about 600 films from 107 countries were submitted to the selection committee of the festival. After the selection 190 feature, documentary and animated films from 53 countries were included in the 15 programs of the 'Pacific Meridian'.

The day before the screening of films at the festival Russian Winter Swimming Federation has held a relay race around the Russian island. Almost within a day, 21 athletes from Vladivostok, Khabarovsk, Blagoveschensk, Novosibirsk and Latvia overcame 53 kilometers. It is noteworthy that among the swimmers were also those who took part in the 2013 swim across the Bering Strait. The leader of the swim, as six years ago, was Oleg Dokuchaev, head of the Kasatka Cold Swimming Association. The swim around the island was successful, despite the fog that fell at night and strong current in the Stark Strait between Russky and Popov islands, which prolonged the swim for four hours.

At the end of the festival, the 2013 Bering won the Audience Choice Contest.

On October 5, 2019, the World Winter Swimming Association hosted a screening of the film as part of the WOWSA Ocean Fest in Los Angeles, USA.

Sponsor of other sports

VIVAX has also sponsored other sporting events. For example, the autumn 2019 extreme sports project "La Perouse Strait 2019" was held with the support of the Russian Olympic Committee, coordination with the Japanese Olympic Committee and sponsorship by VIVAX.

Four-time Russian kitesurfing champion Evgeny Novozheev kiteboarded a 53 kilometer route from Cape Krilion (the southernmost point of Sakhalin Island, Russia) to the shore near Wakkanai (port on Hokkaido Island, Japan) in 2 hours and 56 minutes. Novozheev became the first athlete to cross the La Perouse Strait on a kiteboard, thereby setting a world record in the most prestigious "First in the World" category.

The VIVAX SPORT STUDIO film crew filmed the historic moment.

"You can do more!" - slogan of VIVAX Sport product line could not have expressed better the general spirit of the project and was its leitmotif. We are always ready to support significant sport events", said Andrey Sorokin, General director of VIVAX.

In addition, the VIVAX team itself takes part in various sports competitions. For example, in March 2018, representatives of the company participated for the first time in the WSA Winter World Dryland Championship in Sveg, Sweden and performed in the middle distance with a sled of 6 dogs, covering about 113 km in three days. After three days, the VIVAX team led by Maria Fedorova was named among the five fastest riders in the world.
