On November 23, 2017 in Moscow the conference "Innovations in extractive industries: amber industry" was held. The event was aimed at discussion of practices of interaction between science and industry, peculiarities of industry development, promising domestic developments using unique properties of amber and the role of solar stone in the development of industrial tourism in the Kaliningrad region.

The first part of the event was dedicated to the current technological challenges of the industry's leading enterprise. Oleg Papin, chief surveyor of JSC "Kaliningrad Amber Plant" (part of the State Corporation "Rostekh"), told about modernization of production facilities and cluster development. Technological innovations will be introduced into the amber production, processing and sorting cycle. This work for the company is outsourced by a specialized engineering company.

Also in the first part the participants got acquainted with the possibilities of state support of scientific projects within the framework of the federal target program "Research and development in priority directions of development of scientific and technological complex of Russia for 2014-2020". Deputy Director General of FSBNU "Directorate of Scientific and Technical Programs" Tatiana Tikhonovskaya spoke about the tools and requirements of the program, the potential of public-private partnership and the prospects for the scientific and technological sector of the country.

The discussion was continued by Deputy Head of "Federal Agency for Tourism" Roman Skoryi. In his report, the speaker spoke about the development of industrial tourism in Russia: the recently established council for industrial tourism, technology to attract investors to the region by demonstrating the work of leading enterprises.

The second part of the event was held in the format of a presentation session. Russian researchers talked about the application of amber in various industries. Professor Valentin Hakobyan spoke in detail about the unique properties of amber and the use of small fractions in the production of lacquers, which fully protect against biocorrosion. Such lacquers can be used in shipbuilding, food industry, and even in prosthetics to protect the coating of removable dentures, etc.

Maria Bamboura, Director General of "Natural Assets" Ltd., spoke about the use of amber in cosmetology - amber powder is used in creams because of its unique properties: it is scientifically proved that it restores the color and elasticity of the skin, and slows down aging.

Elizaveta Fedoseyeva, Development Director of "Elixir" demonstrated to the participants functional foods with succinic acid: amber honey and amber water, which have tonic properties and are recommended for use by nutritionists.

The event also announced the dates of the Third Economic Forum of the amber industry, which will be held from 7 to 10 June in Svetlogorsk, Kaliningrad region.

Conference "Innovations in extractive industries: amber industry", organized by the Business Club "State. Science. Business" - the start of the industry discussion. Participants agreed to continue cooperation, make proposals and business solutions for the widespread introduction of innovative developments in industrial amber production. State support mechanisms announced at the event will be an effective tool for replication of technologies and their implementation in domestic and international markets.
