Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant has started production of stainless steel sheets.

According to the press service of the enterprise, the thickness of the product is only 0.8 millimeters and the width is 1.5 meters.

The company has never produced sheets with similar parameters before. During production, sheets are rolled to a width of half a centimeter, then made even thinner, and finally get the required 0.8 millimeter.

The product, as underlined by the company, is highly ductile and at the same time resistant to mechanical damage, as well as protected against corrosion and can be used in welding. Cold-rolled stainless steel sheets are supplied to major enterprises in the nuclear, mechanical engineering, metallurgical and chemical industries.

From January to March of this year the plant has increased production of high-margin stainless steel plates, and their shipment has grown by more than a quarter (28%) compared with the period from October to December of last year, says Sergey Fomchenko, chief engineer of the plant.

It is worth mentioning that among other enterprises of nuclear and metallurgical spheres that need this stainless steel production.
