RUSAL launches new foundry complex

Domestic aluminium company RUSAL has commissioned a new production facility, a foundry complex with an annual capacity of 120 thousand tonnes of alloys. Over RUB 600 million has been invested in the project.

The new production facility was launched at the Boguchansky aluminium smelter, which is located in the Krasnoyarsk region.

The company said that the main product of the enterprise will be a qualitatively new product, namely aluminum alloy with high silicon content. Its distinguishing feature is its increased strength. The alloy is intended for use in the automotive industry in the production of wheel rims, engine parts and other components.

The product is already of great interest in Japan, the United States, Germany, Indonesia, Turkey and South Korea. According to Evgeny Nikitin, General Director of the company, when the foreign markets recover after the crisis, the demand for the offered goods will only increase.

The innovative complex is automated to the maximum, its uniqueness lies in the fact that it produces ingots by means of continuous casting. This eliminates various defects, including slag inclusions that can occur when using traditional methods.
