Export of Russian ice cream increased by 18%

Ice cream from Russia is actively supplied to other countries. In the first five months of this year alone, sales abroad increased by 18%, to 9.2 thousand tons, compared to the same period last year.

The cost of deliveries also increased by 4.4% and amounted to $19 million.

From January to May this year, frozen dainty was purchased by 26 foreign countries.

It should be noted that for the last few years the country has been demonstrating a steady growth dynamics of export of this dessert. Thus, from 2015 to 2019 sales in foreign markets increased by 70% in monetary terms and exceeded the amount of USD 53 million.

Although CIS countries account for most of the supplies, their share is also decreasing as new markets are being developed. For example, while in 2015 about 80% of ice cream exports came from the near abroad, four years later, in 2019, this figure has fallen to 64%, and according to data for the first four months of this year, to 53%.

At the same time, the demand for domestic frozen sweets in China increased sharply - in 4 years, exports there tripled, 14 times to the United States, and 1.9 times to Israel. In 2017, Canada, Sweden and Senegal started buying Russian ice cream for the first time, a year later the Netherlands was added to the list, and later Romania and Cote d'Ivoire.
