The Ministry of Defense built 5 bridges in Tula region

The Russian Defense Ministry has built five road bridges in the Tula Region. This was announced by the deputy head of the ministry, Dmitry Bulgakov.

The bridges were built as part of a tactical and special exercise with bridge units of the Western Military District. Each of the bridges can withstand a minimum of 50 tons and have a lifespan of 50 years.

As Bulgakov explained, the bridges were erected in less than a month - from May 28 to June 24, following an appeal from the head of the Tula region. Thanks to the new constructions in the region there is a transport link between the socially significant facilities and the regions in the region. The Deputy Minister stressed that the bridges were built ahead of schedule.

Last Saturday the bridge across the river Upa in Odoyevsky district of the region was opened, which became the longest bridge among the five bridges - its length is 84 meters. The new structure replaced an emergency wooden bridge and provided transport links to the settlements of Zavalovo, Prudki, Rozhdestvenno and Koziulkino.

The total length of the new five bridges is 216 metres. Approximately 2.6 thousand people will use the facilities. Nowadays the bridges are also under construction.

The former bridges were in disrepair or became unusable during the high waters in spring. Now, they can be used all year round, regardless of the weather.

Regional Governor Alexei Dyumin reminded that engineers have built 14 bridges in the Tula Region since 2018, which has positively impacted transport accessibility for more than 7,000 local residents.
