The first vaccine against measles, rubella and mumps in children is ready in Russia

Russian holding company Natsimbio, which belongs to Rostec State Corporation, has started producing the first domestic vaccine for children against measles, rubella and mumps, which works on the principle of three vaccinations in one shot. Two series of the drug have already been put into circulation.

The vaccine has already received the registration certificate of the Ministry of Health in autumn of last year. The vaccine can be given to children at the age of 1 and 6. The drug was created as part of a strategy to optimize modern immunization schemes in the country.

The vaccine is safe and allows forming a sustainable immunity and minimizes the risk of contracting the abovementioned infections.

Director General of the company Andrey Zagorsky said that commercial customers have already received 1 thousand of three-component vaccines produced in Ukraine. The use of such drugs is approved by the World Health Organization (WHO). As the head of the company noted, by the end of 2020, customers will receive about 80 thousand doses of the new drug.

It is noted that the production capacity of the company is able to fully meet the needs of public health in the Russian Federation for the new vaccine.

As of today, in our country children shall be inoculated against each of the above infections separately or a booster shot - against mumps and measles at once shall be used.

Recall that a year earlier Natsimbio together with Marathon Group started producing an innovative quadrivalent flu vaccine that consists of four current strains of influenza viruses and meets all WHO recommendations, including antigen content. Last summer the vaccine was registered by the Russian Ministry of Health and regions received over 5.4 mln doses for the flu season.
