Russia to resume air links with Egypt, Maldives and UAE

Russia will open air links with the United Arab Emirates, Egypt and the Maldives. This was reported by the Cabinet of Ministers.

According to the message, the head of the Government Mikhail Mishustin ordered to resume on a reciprocal basis flights to Cairo in Egypt (3 flights per week). Also, there will be 2 flights a week to Dubai and the same number of flights to the Maldives, Velana airport.

This decision was made by the operational staff, based on the previously announced criteria and the principles of reciprocity.

At the same time there will be increased up to 4 flights a week to Switzerland: 2 flights by Aeroflot on route "Moscow-Geneva-Moscow" and 2 flights by Swiss Air on route "Zurich-Moscow-Zurich". Previously, they were operated only once a week.

Earlier, the borders were opened for the citizens of Russia in Belarus, Britain, Turkey, Serbia, Abkhazia, Tanzania, Cuba, Montenegro, Croatia, Bulgaria, Dominican Republic and Mexico.

However, it is worth noting that each state has its own rules for entry into their country. In particular, some airports require a certificate of absence of coronavirus infection in the passenger, and some of the countries require the traveler to stay in quarantine for 14 days. Some countries cannot be reached by airplane.

At the end of March, our country introduced a ban on scheduled and charter flights to other states because of the pandemic. Aircraft were flying between different countries as an exception only if they were taken to Russia from abroad, while foreigners, on the contrary, were returned to their home countries. Cargo, postal and sanitary flights also survived.
