Testing of an electric ferry completed in Russia

Model tests of the hull of the prototype medium-range car-passenger electric-powered ferry designed for the Kaliningrad region have been completed.

According to the Governor's Press Service of the region, the ship will make it possible to provide a ferry crossing to the Baltic Spit. It is done within the framework of the state program for the development of shipbuilding and equipment for the development of offshore fields. The customer is the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the RF, and the main executor is Kaliningrad State Technical University. Ushakovskie Verfi and Nordic Engineering are also participating in the project.

The project implementation will cost almost RUR 400 mln. The new vessel will be capable of carrying up to 15 passenger cars and about 80 passengers.

During the meeting regarding the progress of environmentally friendly vessel construction participants emphasized that the project is developing on time.

At the beginning of August there was a keel-laying ceremony of the fourth big freezer fishing trawler project ST-192 "Kapitan Martynov". The new vessel is being built by order of the Russian Fishery Company by Admiralty Shipyards. The contract for building a series of trawlers was made 3 years ago.

The first pair of vessels was launched in spring and summer 2020. They will be handed over to the customer in April and July of the next year.

The third trawler was laid down at the end of June this year, and the company will receive it together with the fourth trawler a year later.
