Stavropol opens the region's largest poultry farm

Stavropol opened the region's largest chicken egg production complex. The facility is located in the village of Preobrazhenskoye and will annually produce about 200 million eggs and more than 222,000 tonnes of poultry meat. This accounts for one-tenth of the entire market in the North Caucasus.

The first batch of eggs will go on sale this autumn.

Construction of the complex began in 2016, with about RUB 1.5 billion invested in the project.

The poultry farm consists of 16 buildings. Once the enterprise reaches its design capacity, it will create 170 new jobs.

In the future it is planned to develop deep processing of eggs to produce egg powder of high quality. It will also produce thermally processed granulated organic fertilizer and fodder for poultry.

Vladimir Vladimirov, Governor of Stavropol Territory, said that the implementation of this project shows the evolutionary development of poultry farming in the region.

Russia's Agriculture Ministry earlier said the country sold over $13bn worth of agricultural products to other countries in the first six months of this year, an increase of $2bn year-on-year. Agricultural exports grew by 18%.
