Vologda ice cream producers will start exporting their own products to four more countries: Congo, Mali, Cameroon and Kenya.

However, on the whole, Russia ranks only 16th among the main world suppliers of ice cream. The leaders in this niche are France, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands.

Currently the main importers of Russian ice cream are Kazakhstan (37%), Mongolia (10.4%) and Ukraine (8.5%). Also domestic dainty is bought by China, Belarus, USA and Canada.

Last year dessert from Russia was supplied to about 40 countries.

At the moment the dessert from Vologda is already sold in six foreign countries, including China, Senegal, Israel and Cote d'Ivoire. This year alone local companies have supplied almost 900 tons of the cold dessert outside the country.

Germany is the EU's leading producer of ice cream, accounting for one-fifth of all the dessert produced in the EU.
