Vegetable oil from Russia started to be shipped to China by rail via direct route

The first batch of vegetable oil was delivered by rail to the Chinese city of Harbin from Penza. Previously this product had only been shipped by sea.

The administration of Penza Region specified that the company carried out the delivery via the Zabaikalsk-Manchuria land border crossing. Earlier it was also possible to deliver the cargo by land, but it was a complicated process. To do this, oil was sent to the border with China by rail, and there the goods were reloaded onto trucks and transported to warehouses all over China.

The exported batch became a test one, and all the way from the Russian region to the terminal point in China the state of containers and flexitanks was controlled by experts from the Russian Federation and China.

Delivery of the oil was carried out in containers of Chinese production.

It should be noted that vegetable oil was on the list of foodstuffs, for which the price was rapidly rising. Thus, over the past week crude unrefined sunflower oil rose in price by more than 3.4 thousand rubles per ton, to 64 thousand rubles. A week earlier, the rise in price exceeded 2 thousand rubles. In September 2019, a ton of oil was priced at 44.5 thousand rubles for the same volume.

The price increase this year is due to a smaller sunflower harvest this year.
