A second vaccine against coronavirus infection will be registered in Russia this week, Mikhail Murashko, head of the Russian Ministry of Health, said.

Two Russian vaccines are now in clinical trials, the ministry said. One, the Ministry recalled, has already been registered.

The Ministry added that the second drug, which is at the stage of clinical trials, is expected to be registered this week, and then it will move into the production cycle.

It is worth noting that the country has become the first in the world to register a vaccine against COVID 2019. The vaccine was created at the Gamaleya National Research Centre for Epidemiology and Microbiology together with the Russian Direct Investment Fund. The drug was named Sputnik V.
