The research vessel Akademik Lazarev, which belongs to a subsidiary of Rosgeologiya, has completed an integrated field geophysical survey in the northern part of the Laptev Sea and the East Siberian Sea of the Arctic Ocean.

This activity was carried out within the framework of the preparation of geological and geophysical materials to substantiate the outer limit of the continental shelf of Russia in the United Nations Commission.

According to the General Director of "Rosgeologiya" Sergey Gorkov, the company has quickly and efficiently fulfilled an important governmental task. The data obtained during the survey will be used to justify the limits of the shelf and for the initial assessment of oil and gas potential of the study water area.

Within 40 days, the Lazarev conducted seismic and gravimagnetic surveys, the scope of which was over 5,500 linear kilometers, although according to the plan, this figure didn't exceed 4,000 linear kilometers. After the field season is over, the data will be sent for digital processing and subsequent interpretation.
