Rosrybolovstvo predicts that the volume of fish catch by the end of this year will amount to 5 million tons. This statement was made by the head of the agency Ilya Shestakov during a conversation with the head of state.

According to Shestakov, the fishing industry during the pandemic worked quite stably, and the catch by the end of the year is expected to be at a level not lower than the indicators of 2019.

Recall, in 2018, the catch exceeded 5 million tons, but a year later the production decreased by 2.2%, to 4.92 million tons.

It is noted that in 2020 for fishermen salmon fishing in the country was less successful compared to previous years. However, the shortfall of this type of fish is compensated by the production of sardine cavassi, mackerel and pollock.

Shestakov stated that aquaculture becomes the growth point of Russian fishery. Thus, this year this sphere will grow by 17%, while a year before it was 20%. The head of the Federal Agency for Fishery of the Russian Federation emphasized the importance of cultural cultivation of salmon. In 2020 their production will reach 100 thousand tons.
