Russian composite materials will be used in production of MS-21 aircraft

Russian-made composites will be used in the main power elements of the MS-21-300 airframe.

During the meeting held by the First Deputy Head of the Ministry of Transport, the Head of Rosaviatsia Alexander Neradko and the Deputy Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Oleg Bocharov discussed how the certification tests of the aircraft are held.

Experts from the United Aircraft Corporation, Irkut Corporation and the Flight Research Institute named after Gromov are involved in the flight and ground tests and calculation and analytical work under the certification program.

The tests confirm that the airliner's standard design meets the requirements of the certification basis. At the moment, the experts are working on the software functionality expansion.

As Mr. Neradko said, Rosaviatsia has accepted to work applications for approval of the main changes to the MS-21 certificate. One of them concerns the installation of the engines PD-14 and the second one is connected with the usage of Russian composites in the main power elements of the airplane frame.

He emphasized that the producers of the composites together with the developer of the aircraft conducted the qualification tests that confirmed that the materials meet all the requirements. After that Irkut started the production of serial parts and aggregates from Russian composites.

According to Bocharov the preparation for the first flight with the specified engines is on schedule. At the moment the specialists finish the installation of the systems of the airliner and work out the software for the integration of the engines and the control system of the airplane.
