Shipbuilding enterprises in St. Petersburg have started construction of 17 ships and vessels, six of which are intended for civilian use. This was announced by the Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov during the ceremony of raising the state flag on the diesel-electric icebreaker Viktor Chernomyrdin.

In total 22 ships and vessels are planned to be built here until 2024. At the moment the share of civil products exceeds one third and amounts to over 37%. According to the plans, in 2024 the figure will exceed 46%.

The head of the region also thanked the President and the government for their support of shipbuilding industry in the city and said that local enterprises are fully provided with orders.

This year 9 ships have been launched in St. Petersburg.
