"Gazprom launched production of highly alkaline calcium sulfonate

"Gazprom Neft began production of a high-tech synthetic additive component for motor oils. The first commercial batch of 80 tonnes of highly alkaline calcium sulfonate was produced at Gazprom Neft's Omsk Lubricants Plant (OZSM).

This alkali serves as a key component that is required during the production of additives used in lubricants. The new product was launched due to modernization of the additive production unit at the plant.

The new synthetic additive Gazpromneft ALDM-400, which was developed by the company, has high detergent-dispersant, anticorrosive and neutralizing properties in relation to products of oil and fuel oxidation. It also prevents formation of deposits, carbon deposits and lacquers in the high-temperature zone, thus prolonging the engine uptime.

During the tests the additive proved to be highly effective - according to the main physical and chemical properties it corresponds to foreign analogues.

Today, foreign sulfonate additives account for more than a third (35%) of all sulfonate additives used by Russian producers of synthetic oils. Gazprom Neft is planning to increase the annual output of its own component to 3.4 thousand tons by 2024. This will enable the company to fully replace its imported counterparts in the country.

Alexander Trukhan, General Director of Gazprom Neft-Lubricants, said that the expected economic effect of introducing the company's own sulfonate additive production will be about half a billion rubles.
