USC suspends move to St Petersburg due to coronavirus

The United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) has suspended relocation of two thirds of its employees from Moscow to St. Petersburg. It is planned to be completed in April next year.

The pandemic has affected a number of external processes, including the transfer of buildings for repair and preparation of premises for employees so that the specifics of their activities with state secrets were taken into account, writes Interfax.

Earlier it was reported that 1.4 billion rubles would be needed to relocate the headquarters.

According to Alexei Rakhmanov, the director general of USC, St. Petersburg is an "anchor" region for the corporation, as the main part of shipyards and design bureau is located here. Apart from this, the Northern Capital is also a home to key customers including the headquarters of the Navy, Gazprom and Gazprom Neft.

Rakhmanov states that the Corporation expects positive dynamics in regional network management of United Shipbuilding Corporation after the relocation.

At the same time Moscow will remain the company's headquarter as the location for meetings and decision-making.
