Georgia exported almost 4.7 thousand tons of apples this year. Of these, 4.55 thousand tons were sent to Russia and the rest to Kazakhstan, Armenia, Singapore and Hong Kong.

According to Georgia's agriculture ministry, this was a record-breaking figure. A year earlier the country sold abroad the fruit 11 times less. Overall, the revenue of Georgian horticulturists amounted to $2 million.

Russia and Georgia, despite the absence of diplomatic relations for 12 years, continue to actively trade.

For example, Russia is the Transcaucasian country's main supplier of wheat. Overall, domestic grain imports account for up to 95% of domestic consumption. This situation is unprecedented in the world when a country has only one supplier of the main food product.

At the same time, Russia imports nuts from Georgia. This year alone the country has purchased nearly 500 tons of such fruits.
