Russian-Nicaraguan congress on pharmaceuticals took place
The Russia - Nicaragua International Congress was held on December 3-4 in the online format. During the event the challenges of the pharmaceutical industry in the health emergency were discussed.
In particular, the parties touched upon the topic of pandemic and vaccination.
In addition, the forum participants voiced the results of the use of influenza inactivated split vaccine, which was developed by Russian specialists together with their colleagues from the Mechnikov Institute in Nicaragua, from 2016 to 2020.
In total, more than 12 million doses of this vaccine were supplied over 4 years. To date, the drug has been registered in Guatemala, El Salvador, Cuba and Nicaragua. In the future the Russian Institute intends to register it also in Venezuela and Dominican Republic.
Among the participants of the congress were Laureano Ortega, special representative of the Nicaraguan President for cooperation with the Russian Federation and Marta Reyes, Nicaragua's Minister of Health.
