Krasnodar farmers will soon start planting sugar beets. This year, 10% more area will be planted with it compared to 2020.

The seeds will be used, including the seeds bred by regional scientists. Farmers will be compensated in the amount of 70% of the cost of beet seeds purchase. A total of 15.3 million rubles has been allocated from the regional budget for this purpose.

According to the Krasnodar Regional Minister of Agriculture Fedor Dereka, three years in the Kuban there is a growth of import substitution in sugar beet seed production. The Ministry predicts that in 2021 the area of sowing with own seed material will be at least 8%, and in a year - 10%.

Now sowing of early spring crops - wheat, barley, perennial grasses, oats and grain peas - is coming to an end at Kuban. Currently more than 125 thousand hectares have already been sown, or 80% of the target.
