Russian newsprint producer increases share of new products by 40%

Kondopoga Pulp and Paper Mill (KPPM), a leading producer of newsprint in Karelia, has started producing new types of paper. It is about updated packing paper and paper of higher grades and consumer properties.

According to the website of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the output of such products amounted to 40% of all products.

The General Director of the company said that during the pandemic the mill faces the acute problem of how to continue working. The whole staff of the pulp and paper mill managed to set up production of new types of products, which made it possible to fully restore the production.

Last year the output of the mill exceeded 650 thousand tons of paper. The share of exports to 60 countries increased significantly and amounted to almost 87%. Mostly paper from Karelia was imported by China, India, Turkey, Pakistan and Mexico. In the future, the company intends to expand the geography of its foreign supplies.
