Stavropol-based mineral fertilizer producer Almaz Fertilizers will start producing the world's first granulated ameliorant from phosphogypsum.

The company is now one of the country's largest producers of water-soluble and granulated phosphogypsum fertilizers. Every year up to 250 thousand tons of phosphogypsum, which has a valuable polycomponent composition, is produced at the plant. For example, it includes macro-, meso-, micro- and ultramicronutrients. They improve physical and chemical properties of acidic, saline and other soils and prevent their depletion.

At present, this substance is used only for reclamation of the tailings, but in the future, the company plans to master the technological process and to launch a workshop for manufacturing granulated fertilizers from phosphogypsum.

Their use will enable farmers to obtain higher yields and reduce the cost of agricultural production.

The company already plans to start testing the effectiveness of the fertiliser on fields in Russian regions.
