Russia may restrict the supply of Czech-made products to the country as a retaliatory measure to the expulsion of diplomats from Prague, the Kommersant newspaper said.

For example, the authorities, according to the newspaper, are discussing the introduction of economic sanctions against the Czech Republic. First and foremost, the restrictions may affect foam drinks. Imports of such drinks by the end of the last year increased by 10% and exceeded $38 million.

Earlier, the Czech Republic accused Russia of involvement in an explosion at a munitions depot in Vrbetica in 2014 and following these statements expelled 18 embassy employees.

In response, Russia declared 20 employees of the Czech diplomatic mission persona non grata, and called the accusations outrageous and unsubstantiated.

Prague later officially downsized the Russian embassy after it failed to get a positive response to the Czech foreign minister's demand that the expelled diplomats return to the Russian capital.
