Bringing investment back to the Far East: Trutnev explained the importance of the WEF

The Fourth Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) will help restore work to attract investment to regions in the Russian Far East. This opinion was expressed by Yury Trutnev, Deputy Prime Minister and Presidential Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District (FEFD).

He stressed that the refusal to hold the forum in 2020 had a negative impact on the work of attracting investment and discussions on development issues. "Therefore, this year we need to get back into the established rut and hold the forum again," TASS quoted him as saying.

According to Trutnev, this year's most important topics will be the analysis of changes that have taken place in the world after the coronavirus pandemic and the impact of lockdown on economic cooperation between states.

The Eastern Economic Forum will be held in Vladivostok on September 2-4 in its former, face-to-face format. At the same time, all events will also be broadcast online via the official website of the WEF.

Also this year it is planned to organize platforms in Seoul, Shanghai and Tokyo. They will be working in the videoconference mode.

As a reminder, the WEF was cancelled last year due to the difficult epidemiological situation. The money that was to be used to hold the forum was returned to the Primorsky Territory budget in order to fulfill the region's social obligations to its residents.
