Kurgan region and Uzbekistan may launch joint agricultural projects

Kurgan region and Uzbekistan may implement a joint project on agricultural production and entry of the Trans-Urals industrial enterprises into an export hub on the territory of Uzbekistan for sales to the countries of the Asian region, the press service of the regional government said.

"Kurgan region is interested in strengthening economic cooperation with the Republic of Uzbekistan. I believe there are great prospects for this. Despite serious competition, cooperation in the supply of agricultural products and textiles can give a good effect. The region has great potential to export manufactured products known outside the region," Deputy Governor of Kurgan Region, head of the regional representative office Andrey Alexeyev said during the meeting with trade and economic adviser of the Embassy of Uzbekistan to Russia Shohrum Gulamov.

One of the most promising areas of cooperation could be joint projects in agriculture, Shokhrum Gulamov said. In particular, the sides discussed possibilities of direct supplies of Uzbek products to the markets of the Urals Federal District, including through the establishment of wholesale distribution centers. Uzbekistan is also interested in supplies of municipal machinery from Russia.

"Andrey Alekseev supported the idea to participate in the implementation of joint cooperation projects, such as the establishment of agricultural production facilities in the Kurgan region and the entry of Trans-Urals industrial enterprises in the export hub in the Republic of Uzbekistan for further sales to the countries of the Asian region. Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Russian Federation Botirjon Asadov was invited to visit our region this year to get personally acquainted with the prospects for cooperation and to strengthen the friendly relations," the press service of the Kurgan government added.
