Yogurt producer Campina decides to leave the Russian market

The Russian division of FrieslandCampina, which makes products under the Campina brand, is leaving the Russian Federation and intends to focus on development in other countries.

It is noted that all of its assets will be transferred to Ehrmann, which after the transaction will become the owner of 100% of Campina LLC, including all assets and liabilities of the company.

Ehrmann will have 650 employees, a production site in Stupino near Moscow and the popular Fruttis and "Tender" brands.

According to the joint communication of the companies, the deal is strategic as it "will strengthen Ehrmann's position in Russia and allow FrieslandCampina to focus on consumer markets in other countries".

The deal must now be approved by antitrust authorities in Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Belarus. It is planned to be closed at the end of June this year.

FrieslandCampina appeared in Russia in 1992 and became the first yoghurt supplier in the country, introducing the Fruttis yoghurt, which at that time was made in Germany. Six years later the company started to produce sterilised milk in a newly built factory in Stupino. A year later, a yogurt plant was also built there.
