Agricultural commodity turnover between Russia and Switzerland increased by more than 20%

Mutual supplies of agro-industrial products (AIC) between Russia and Switzerland have increased by more than 20% and reached $110 million since the beginning of 2021, the Federal AIC Export Development Center of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture said.

"The Minister of Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev discussed the prospects of bilateral agricultural cooperation with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Swiss Confederation in Russia Christine Marty Lang. ...According to the Minister, the dynamics of relations with Switzerland on the agro-industrial complex remains at a stable level. Thus, last year the turnover of agricultural products and foodstuffs increased by 6% up to 311 million dollars. During the first four months of the current year mutual supplies increased by over 20% reaching $110 million," the report says.

Particularly the growth in the volume of Russian wheat supplies is noted. At that, according to the minister, Russia is interested in increasing exports of other types of cereals as well as oil and fats, fish, confectionery and alcoholic beverages.

In order to intensify the cooperation a bilateral memorandum "on mutual understanding in the field of agriculture" is being prepared, the Export Development Center added.
